Disaster Recovery Journal celebrated its 43rd conference Sept. 19-22, 2010, at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina on Harbor Island.
“We saw a huge jump in attendance at this show,” said Bob Arnold, president of Disaster Recovery Journal. “It was nearly a 24 percent boost in attendance from last year. It certainly continues to show how important business continuity is becoming in today’s business environment. Less and less we see business continuity as a checklist item but becoming more entrenched as it develops into a true standard in sound business.”
Fall World 2010 was highlighted by the Monday Night Hospitality event, a San Diego Bay cruise, sponsored by MIR3.
“MIR3 provided a great networking event for our attendees Monday evening,” said Arnold. “The harbor cruise showcased one of the most beautiful sides of San Diego – and who better to be our tour guide than MIR3, a business local to the San Diego bay area.”
Silver sponsors included COOP Systems, Forsythe, IBM Business Continuity and Recovery Services, Recovery Point. Bronze sponsors included Atlantic.Net, eBRP Solutions, and Emprimus. Bick Group, Fusion Risk, PlantCML, Send Word Now, Shermco Industries, Verizon Wireless, Volo Recovery, Disaster Game, Forrester Leadership Board, FedEx Custom Critical, DRI International and PPBI were all cosponsors.
Daniel Lipps won the $500 attendance prize drawing while Nancy Kline and Fanta David each won $250. All three attendees also won a free pass to a future DRJ conference.
“We hope the attendance increase continues as DRJ has some incredible events lined up for our 2011 shows,” said Arnold. “Our next up is ‘Successful Strategies for Complex Decisions’ March 27-30 in Orlando and our fall event again in San Diego, Sept. 11-14, 2011.” For more information on DRJ Spring World 2011 in Orlando, see pages 67-73.
