The regular general business meeting of the Mid-America Contingency Planning Forum was held at the Salvation Army offices on Thursday, May 20, 1999, at 3:00 p.m.

President Tom Roeseler welcomed all members and guests and thanked them for attending.  Introductions were made around the room.  The agenda was reviewed.

Mr. Roeseler directed everyone to the display table where there were several handouts available from the American  Red Cross, FEMA, DRJ, MCPF, and SEMA.  One handout was for an upcoming seminar titled “Y2K, 11th Hour Business Continuity & Communication Strategies.”  Information on this seminar can be found on the Web at HTTP://WWW.IQPC.COM.  SEMA has published a document titled, “Are You OK with Y2K?”  This can be found at WWW.Y2K.STATE.MO.US, along with other continuity-related information.

Due to several scheduling conflicts, minutes from the last few meetings were unavailable for review.

There was a brief discussion on the program status.  Tim Proost discussed preparations for the June meeting and indicated we were still trying to find a location for this meeting.  Frank Arnoldy offered use of his facilities in Crestwood for this meeting.  We accepted Frank’s offer and thanked him.

Anna Bathon and Angie Swartz provided a membership status.  Both had indicated that renewals were slow in coming in for the 1999 year.  They will continue to work to tracking these renewals.  Membership was even over the last couple months.

Membership Bylaws approval was discussed.  Anna informed the group that the revised bylaws would be distributed the week of May 25 for their review and vote at the June meeting.  Tom Roeseler thanked Paul Thomas and Mel Musson for their review, suggestions, and comments on the bylaws.  Once the bylaws are approved, they will be documented and distributed in a membership packet to all current members.

The meeting moved to the featured topic and speaker.  Michael Cannon of Bank of America presented “Year 2000 Event Management.”  Mr. Cannon discussed how Bank of America is preparing for Year 2000 and utilizing an event management process for worldwide coverage.  A copy of his presentation is available by contacting Anna Bathon.

The next meeting of the MCPF will be held June 17 at City of Crestwood; featured topic will be on behavioral concerns.  Additional information will be distributed in the regular announcement.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 4:50 p.m.
