The regular general business meeting of the Mid-America Contingency Planning Forum was held at MasterCard International on Thursday, July 16, 1998, at 3:00 p.m.

Vice President Tim Woerther welcomed all members and guests and thanked them for attending. The next order of business was a review of the June 18 meeting minutes. There being no concerns expressed, the minutes were approved as presented. A review of t he June 19 Board meeting minutes followed with no comments to discuss.

An update on the 1998 Program took place, and all members received an updated schedule at the sign-in table. It was noted that the September meeting will be held a week later than usual (September 24) due to a conflict with the DRJ conference scheduled the week of September 14. The December meeting will be held the first Thursday (December 3) due to the holidays. Mr. Woerther indicated that the Board was compiling a list of topics for 1999 meetings; and anyone with suggested topics or volunteers to hos t meetings should contact Tim Proost, the group's Program Director, at 314/955-5374.

The next order of business was the first quarterly Membership Raffle Drawing. Sue Schooler was asked to reach in the hat and draw a name. The winner was Tim Bonno for bringing Dirk Stringer in as a member.

President Emeritus Tim Bonno then presented to the group an article titled, Business Insurance: Is Your Company Adequately Covered?, that appeared in the St. Louis Small Business Monthly newspaper. This is a free publication available at local groceries stores and various other locations. Tim indicated this was a good article and encouraged the membership to review it. He also commented that this publication periodically contained some good business continuity related articles.

Tim Bonno discussed the public/private partnerships. He indicated that FEMA was considering St. Louis County as a site for a disaster resistant community, in large part due to the activity MCPF members have done in how to coordinate recovery actions an d in the membership's interest shown so far.

There were no new topics presented for discussion; so Tim Woerther moved the meeting on to the featured presentation and introduced Randy Till to the group. Randy is the Business Continuation Director for MasterCard and is the current Treasurer of the MCPF. The featured topic was Exercise Design and Implementation.

Randy provided a brief history and some background information on MasterCard and its operations. The business continuation approach was next discussed, and then he moved on to the exercise approach used. Throughout his presentation, he provided handout s to the attendees. These handouts were compiled from information used by A. G. Edwards and Southwestern Bell Telephone.

Handouts from the Exercise Design and Implementation discussion may be obtained by contacting Anna Bathon at 314/466-3509 or e-mail at bathon@nationsbank.asset-mgt.com.

The next meeting of the MCPF group will be held on Thursday, August 20, 1998, 3:00 p.m., at the American Red Cross. The featured topic will be Red Cross Services Available At Time of Disaster presented by Deane Adam and other representati ves from the Red Cross.

There being no further business, this meeting was adjourned at 4:30 p.m.
