Tom Roeseler/NationsBank welcomed everyone and thanked Randy Till/MasterCard for providing the meeting facility and refreshments.
Tom solicited changes and/or corrections to the previous meetings minutes. Minutes were approved and accepted.
Tim Woerther/NationsBank reviewed upcoming 1998 meetings as well as the "Crisis Communications Seminar" to be conducted Tuesday June 9. Future meetings include:
(FEMA Region 7 Director), Marsha Shannon (MoSEMA), Dirk Springer, Bob Young, Jerry Uhlmann, and Ken Walk of local EMA offices. Other members may be scheduled closer to the meeting date.* Thursday April 16 at 2:00PM. "Events in the Public Sector"
Tim Bonno announced the April meeting would begin an hour earlier than normal and the panel members would include John Miller
* Thursday May 21 at 3:00PM. "Media Management"
* Thursday June 18 at 3:00PM. "Facility Restoration"
Tim commented on a recent news broadcast on CNN and associated internet article out of Oregon regarding business continuity planning being done in the gaming (lottery) industry. Anyone interested in information on this should contact Tim at 314/466-7059.
Tom Roeseler discussed our membership program. Key points to consider:
* Angie Swartz/Enterprise Leasing is the new Membership Director.
* Angie has created a fantastic new MCPF brochure. Thanks, Angie!
* The MCPF now has a banner (that matches our logo and brochures!) that can be used at meetings, conferences, etc.
* Its the responsibility of each current member to help increase awareness of future members and solicit their participation.
Tom announced a quarterly raffle to help get new members. The quarterly prize drawing will be for a $50 gift certificate. For every current member that brings a new person to a meeting and that new person joins the MCPF, the current member can place his/her name "into the hat." Current member names can be placed in the hat for EVERY new member that joins. Then in June, September, and December, we will pull names for one certificate each quarter. See any current board member for additional details.
New members were introduced; namely, K. Sue Schooler of The Home Depot, and Patsy Duncan and David Pollard of Steamatic Catastrophe. Welcome to the group!
Tom advised the group of a request Mark Rocco/Steamatic had made regarding the June MCPF meeting. Mark will be the featured speaker and has a list of environmental issues we might want him to talk about in addition to facility restoration. If you have any ideas, please submit them to Tom Roeseler prior to the June 18 meeting.
Tim Bonno provided an overview of the current Private - Public Sector Partnership within Missouri. Mr. Bonno has drafted a document titled "An Implementation Plan for Business and Industry Representation within the Missouri State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC)." Anyone interested in receiving this document should contact Tim Bonno at 314/247-5912. Any and all comments and/or suggestions regarding this draft would be appreciated. Angie Swartz, Tom Roeseler, and Tim Bonno will represent the MCPF/St. Louis region at the SEOC. Private sector reps will be drawn from contingency groups as well as organizations such as local Chambers of Commerce if a planning group has not yet been formed. Cape Girardeau is developing similar groups for that area.
Deane Adam/American Red Cross provided a wrap-up overview of the Second Annual "Small & Mid-Sized Recovery Workshop" conducted March 11. Attendance almost doubled this year! The MCPF was an exhibitor at the seminar.
Tom introduced Mike Cannon/NationsBank. Mikes presentation was titled "Contingency Awareness and Training". Copies of the presentation handouts can be obtained from Tom Roeseler.
The next meeting of the MCPF group will be held on Thursday, April 19, 1998, 2:00 p.m., at Southwestern Bell Telephone in Ballwin. The featured topic will be Events in the Public Sector presented by a panel of representatives from FEMA, SEMA, and local EMA offices.
This meeting was adjourned at 5:00 p.m.
