Cyber crime has been a thorn in the side of both corporations and individuals for decades. In the early years, one could argue that cyber attacks were mostly a nuisance, almost like pranks, resulting in little more than a dysfunctional IT system for a few minutes, or, at worst, a few hours. Yet, as IT has become more of an economic force in the business world, there is money to be made by manipulating the integrity of a company’s information and systems. Illegal enterprises have sprung up dedicated solely to stealing personal information with the goal of making money by inflicting financial damage on others.
