SUMMARY:
Responsible for the development and implementation of business continuity (mission critical processes) and disaster recovery (systems recovery) plans, which support business resiliency objectives for the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Ensure that BCP efforts for the command meet Information Assurance (IA) standards, policies, and objectives as defined in:
•DOD Directive 8500.1, Information Assurance (IA)
•DOD Instruction 8500.2, IA Implementation,
•NIST 800-34 Contingency Planning Guide for Federal Information Systems and other DOD and DON related policies.
Promote management standards and industry best practices while coordinating the design and implementation of the organizations (Data Center) Business Continuity Plan (BCP) focused on sustaining the organization’s mission/business processes during and after a disruption.
Support maintenance of the organizations Continuity of Operations (COOP) Plan focused on restoring the organization’s mission essential functions (MEF) at an alternate site and performing those functions for up to 30 days before returning to normal operations.
Guide development and maintenance of the Information System Contingency Plans (ISCP) providing procedures for the assessment and recovery of a system following a system disruption. The ISCP provides key information needed for system recovery, including roles and responsibilities, inventory information, assessment procedures, detailed recovery procedures, and testing of a system.
Maintain supporting program documents and plans including the Crisis Communications Plan, Cyber Incident Response Plan (CIRP) and Occupant Emergency Plan.
Facilitates risk assessments to evaluate potential threats to organization viability, information security/recovery, and physical security.
Provide guidance in identifying and defining critical systems and time-sensitive areas and assesses potential business impacts.
Recommend / support development of recovery strategies and solutions for team consideration.
Involves key stakeholders and management in systems or strategic discussions and documents resolution. Coordinates / facilitates Continuity Working Group in maintaining and expanding continuity capabilities.
Assists management in documenting procedures, training materials and policies supporting program requirements.
Develops and facilitates table-top testing scenarios with business system and hosting center owners for all plans including the ISCP and CIRP on annual basis.
Able to successfully facilitate and document systems BC-DR exercises with system support teams.
Provides meaningful status reports. Excels in updating management on relevant progress of assignments & issues; contributing to team efficiency.
Conducts research projects upon request.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems or Engineering required.
BC-DR Certification is strongly desired (ABCP, CFCP, CBCP, MBCP, CBCI, AMBCI, SBCI, or MBCI).
Experience in DoD / DoN Information Assurance programs.
Demonstrated proficiency in following instructions, problem solving, proof reading, quality assurance, analytical skills, and MS Office products and experience working with various systems.
Five or more years of experience in Business Continuity-Disaster Recovery related field.
