Job Summary
Responsible for leading the administration of daily functions of the Disaster Recovery program such as facilitation of gathering recovery requirements and documentation and design of recovery plans for the Business, Application and Technical teams. Oversees and leads the performance of Administrator activities for DR tools, ensuring contents are relevant and current, and supports management of DR contracts. Oversees and leads the scheduling and participation efforts for all DR testing activities related to documenting, evaluating and reporting results. Reviews and approves DR strategies, ensuring they are effective, relevant and tie with technology capabilities and processes. Leads DR awareness activities to include the facilitation of training and program awareness. Leads collaboration sessions across the business, IT teams, and vendors to design and implement DR solutions. Responsible for providing standard and ad-hoc reports and metrics. Works under general direction and minimal supervision. Coaches, mentors, guides and provides oversight to Analysts.
Job Responsibilities (listed in order of importance and/or time spent)
- Leads the disaster recovery program and the enterprise’s ability to respond to disasters and interruptions in an appropriate manner. Leads response and recovery activities during times of crisis, disasters and/or other emergencies. Assists in the development, customization, maintenance and planning of the enterprise DR Plans, BIA's, Assessments, and Application and Technical Strategies.
- Oversees and manages daily disaster recovery activities to ensure the Disaster Recovery Program is meeting objectives. Works closely with the Business, Application and Technology teams to understand goals and objectives, clarify requests and requirements. Oversees and takes the lead on the development, documentation and maintenance of DR plans, DR status, and reporting and resolution of issues and risks.
- Leads and oversees the performance of business impact analysis on all existing disaster recovery plans and newly proposed applications and oversees the process of identifying criticality for new applications. Oversees the defining of application and technical requirements, development of process flows and designs.
- Oversees and leads the development and definition of recovery objectives to define how quickly a system should be recovered and the amount of data loss that is acceptable to the business for each application. Oversees the identification, design, and maintenance of business, application and technical requirements of hardware, system components, and overall infrastructure.
- Manages complex recovery programs and acts as the subject matter expert on the implementation and capabilities of the existing recovery technology within the Company and on recovery issues. Develops and fosters strategic relationships and establishes management and executive partnerships. Facilitates the interaction between the business and technology groups.
- Leads the identification and provide direction related to identifying critical dependencies for new and existing applications, including inputs/outputs, servers, hardware, software, data, networks, and vendors.
- Leads the development and implementation of recovery plans which include the following components: hardware, OS/software, database, storage and application/data, network, Active Directory, third party vendors, backup & vaulting, and security.
- Understands the business organizational structure and culture to best attain objectives and results in the development of recovery plans. Keeps in close contact with the business to fully understand the client’s business and potential changes to the business, as well as processes, programs and issues, so as to anticipate possible changes in recovery requirements. Works closely with the client in gathering and documenting ongoing client requirements and identifies desired results and provides an understanding of the opportunity or problem.
- Oversees, leads, and approves the design and implementation of the best of the recommended solutions that meet Business requirements, the recovery time objective, and the recovery point objective. Oversees and leads the planning and development of test solutions to validate whether the recovery requirements have been met. Reviews, assesses and evaluates the test plans, test scripts and test conditions developed by the Sr. Analysts. May manage or provide guidance as it relates to managing numerous tests per year. Identifies and makes recommendations regarding risks, issues, critical points of failure. Manages teams for before, during, and after test activities and ensures pretest planning and post -test follow-up. Provides oversight to the management of Internal and External Audits and the Request for proposal process.
- Works collaboratively with and provides guidance to areas of IT to ensure that all recovery solutions are appropriately implemented and supported. Monitors the remediation of all findings of assessments. Oversees DR change management, ensuring that production changes are monitored and solutions to remediate problems are implemented. Ensures the management of hot and live DR equipment. Negotiates with vendors and ensures contracts are reviewed with Legal. Oversees the development, implementations and documentation of recovery standards, procedures, processes, guideline and policies. Ensures requirements and deliverables are clearly defined. Identifies opportunities as they present themselves relating to enhancement of the testing process and supports integration into other technology processes (Service Desk, Change Management, etc.).

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications & Interests
- Bachelor’s Degree and at least 7 years of experience in IT or Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity OR a High School Diploma/GED and at least 10 years of experience in IT or Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity,
- Required certification in DRII (Disaster Recovery Institute International) or BCI (Business Continuity Institute) as granted by DRI International and Business Continuity Institute.
- At least 5 years of experience in Disaster Recovery defining Recovery objectives, gathering and documenting business and application requirements and developing technical requirements, and developing recovery solutions.
- Experience gathering business and technical requirements and communicating them to business and technology staff to provide executable recovery solutions to the business.
- Experience operating as a liaison between the business, technology groups and vendors.
- Experience communicating conceptual and technical information.
- Experience translating technical data into business impact information and vice versa.
- Experience with project management (for example: planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives).
- Experience delivering training/ education programs for emergency preparedness.
- Available for on-call coverage during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- At least 2 years of experience in indirect management of team members, including assisting in the development, training and assignment of work/projects to other team members.
- Willing to travel at least 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).
