Written by  Jon Seals Thursday, 22 November 2007 03:05

More than 1,200 attendees joined expert speakers and exhibitors for a total of 1,500 people at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina for the Disaster Recovery Journal Fall World 2004 conference Sept. 19-22.

“We are very pleased with the increase in attendance for our Fall World 2004,” said Bob Arnold, vice president of Disaster Recovery Journal. “We have not had this percentage of increase in attendance since 1998-1999 and Y2K issues were the biggest pressing issues in our industry.”

Sessions featured a wide variety of topics, coinciding with current events and industry trends.

“We have to thank the many wonderful speakers, sponsors and exhibitors that participated in the show,” said Arnold. “Contributions from the many speakers as well as our sponsors, such as Forsythe, helped us deliver an excellent leaning exerience in a very enjoyable atmosphere.”

Forsythe was the gold sponsor of DRJ’s 31st conference in 16 years.

“Forsythe put on a great party,” said Arnold of the Hotel California Monday Night Hospitality. “The attendees had a great time.”
Hewlett-Packard was the silver sponsor of Fall World 2004.

Co-sponsors included: Agility Recovery Solutions, COOP Services, IBM, MessageOne, Motorola, National Notification Network (3N), and SunGard. Ernst & Young sponsered the Mock Disaster while Agility Recovery Solutions sponsored the Cyber City. FedEx Custom Critical is the official transportation sponsor of DRJ conferences. DRI International and PPBI are non-profit spnsors of the conference.

The exhibit hall was filled to capacity, with more than 85 exhibitors manning almost 100 booths.

DRJ President Richard L. Arnold is pleased with the growth of the conference, saying that many companies have been loosening budgets and travel expenses after cutting funds for business continuity in recent years.

Prior to the conference, Gerry Born won a deluxe San Diego vacation package, which included a three night/four day stay at the beautiful Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina, two spa treatments and two dinners at the top-rated Alfieres Restaurant. Sam Cassel and Sheryl Ditillo each won a pair of tickets to the new Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres baseball team. Bill Hart, Richard James, and Judith Lambert each won a pair of tickets to the world famous San Diego Zoo. Terrie Ramirez, Bridgette and Tommy Simmons each won two tickets for the San Diego Harbor Cruise.

“If you did not have a chance to join us for this great show, we will be in Orlando in the spring and back in San Diego in the fall again in 2005,” said Bob Arnold.

DRJ will hold its 32nd conference March 6-9, 2005, in Orlando, Fla. For more information on Spring World 2005, see pages 79-85.
