More than 1,200 attendees joined expert speakers and exhibitors for a total of 1,600 people at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina for the Disaster Recovery Journal Fall World 2005 conference Sept. 18-21.

“This is our 33rd conference, but the first time we have ever had to close registration due to the overwhelming success of the show,” said Bob Arnold, vice president of Disaster Recovery Journal. “This was a great conference by all accounts.”

Conference sessions featured a wide variety of topics, coinciding with industry trends and the latest disastrous events like Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

“We have to thank the many wonderful speakers, sponsors and exhibitors that participated in the show,” said Arnold. “Contributions from the many speakers as well as our sponsors, such as Forsythe, helped us deliver an excellent leaning experience in a very enjoyable atmosphere.”

Forsythe was the gold sponsor of Fall World 2005, sponsoring the Monday Night Hospitality. Forsythe featured the flavors of San Diego to Napa Valley in their “Taste of California.”

“Forsythe did another wonderful job as host of the Monday Night Hospitality,” said Arnold. “All of our attendees had a great time.”

BearingPoint, Hewlett-Packard, and IBM were the silver sponsors of Fall World 2005.

Co-sponsors included: AlarmPoint, COOP Systems, eBRP, MessageOne, SunGard and Symantec. JS Training Institute sponsored the Mock Disaster while Rentsys sponsored the Cyber City. FedEx Custom Critical is the official transportation sponsor of DRJ conferences. DRI International and PPBI are non-profit sponsors of the conference.

The exhibit hall was filled to capacity, with more than 80 service providers manning 103 booths. Linda Haag and Stanley Braden each won a two night stay at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and $1,500 cash in the exhibit hall attendance prize drawing.

A variety of attendance prize drawings were held throughout the week. Judy Ramos won a two-night stay at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel with dinner and spa treatments included, Ron Erskine won two tickets for the San Diego Harbor cruise, Amelie Gannon won two tickets for the Old Tyme Trolley, and Chris Kennedy won two tickets to the world famous San Diego Zoo. Margaret Marseglia won the $500 grand prize while Anthony Braubach and George Hutchinson each won $250.

“If you did not have a chance to join us for this great show, we will be in Orlando in the spring and back in San Diego in the fall of 2006,” said Arnold.

DRJ will hold its 34th conference March 26-29, 2006, in Orlando, Fla. For more information on Spring World 2006, see pages 79-85.
