The Technology There should be no question in anyone's mind that the capabilities of modern Information Technology will continue to grow at an increasingly rapid pace for the foreseeable future. The question therefore arises as to what will be the impact on the Emergency Management / Disaster Recovery field and what should we be doing to best understand and utilize these enhanced capabilities? Today, computing technology is reshaping the world, our jobs and our lives. Governments must be more responsive as technology in the hands of citizens forces more accountability. Electronic Commerce websites allow local companies to market globally and to compete head on with much larger corporations. Financial institutions move money around the world without regard to borders. Advances in the fields of research and medicine, made possible through advances in technology, promise us longer and healthier lives.
