Experts agree that a devastating earthquake that would affect Israel dramatically is just a matter of time. It may happen today, tomorrow, the next year, or in 10 years, but it would surely happen. The Israeli government committee in charge of preparations for that earthquake, which is a multilateral committee led by Dr. Avi Shapira, the senior expert in earthquakes in the country, assumes that the magnitude in Israel can reach up to 7.5 on the Richter scale and cause thousands of casualties or more.
