A Successful Business Continuity Program in today’s ever changing global business climate is dependent on gaining Executive Management participation.  To succeed in this endeavor, executive management will require evaluations, measurements and reports in order to effectively set the direction and expectations for the Business Continuity Program. This involvement by management will help to drive the business continuity within the organization based on the strategic direction and mission of the corporation.

Business continuity planning as a core business function has continued to evolve within organizations and is today becoming a formal program in many companies.  The success of a strong Business Continuity Program has always required the proper level of management commitment towards resources and funding.  However, in today’s business environment, executive management is now aware of the importance and the risks associated with not having an effective Business Continuity Program.  Executives are now engaged in understanding how the business continuity process impacts the organizations ability to carry out the primary mission of the company.

This session will present the key steps and issues associated with elevating the business continuity planning within an organization and how to integrate this program with the key corporate objectives. The following topics will be discussed during this session:

    • Gaining management participation through the establishment of effective steering committees
    • Management of the executive steering committees to establish ownership, gain participation and setup an annual endorsement process
    • Measurement of the Business Continuity Program to provide management with gauges to assess the status of the program and make strategic decisions about future directions
    • Developing ratings and evaluations to determine effectiveness of business continuity planning at the plan and exercise level – demonstrate recovery readiness.
    • Establishing formal cycles and processes to ensure business continuity planning is integrated into the daily business operations of the organization.
    • Making evaluations and measurements key drivers in obtaining the appropriate level of commitment and support for the business continuity program.
