Disaster Recovery Journal celebrated its 40th conference March 29 to April 1, 2009, at Walt Disney World’s Coronado Springs Resort.
“Despite the economic woes our world is facing, attendance was still strong with more than 750 registered attendees and more than 1,100 in total for the show,” said Bob Arnold, president of Disaster Recovery Journal. “This is considerably down from years past, but in today’s landscape, we deem this an incredible success.
Spring World 2009 was highlighted by a disco-themed Monday Night Hospitality event, sponsored by IBM.
“We would like to thank our gold sponsor, IBM, for hosting a wonderful disco ball for the attendees,” said Arnold. “I would also like to thank our many other sponsors including: Forsythe, SunGard, Varolli, DCC, Dell MessageOne, eBRP, Booz Allen Hamilton, COOP systems, EMC GlobalAlertLink, Verizon Wireless, DRI Intermational and PPBI.”
Included with the usual conference CD, booklet, and other handouts, was a two-DVD set by Edward S. Devlin. The “Exercising the Crisis Management Plan” was a $150 value for all attendees.
Devlin and general session speaker Dr. Robert Chandler were also on-hand to sign copies of their latest books.
Eric Olson won the $500 attendance prize drawing while Huma Halimi and Gregory McClellan each won $250. All three attendees also won a free pass to a future DRJ conference.
“Three-and-a-half days of educational classes, workshops, and hospitalities kept our attendees busy in a fun and educational atmosphere,” said Arnold. “Disney again was a terrific location and is without a doubt a first class organization.
“Thank you again to everyone in attendance and hope you found it as enjoyable as I and the entire DRJ staff did. I hope to see everyone in the fall in San Diego.”
DRJ’s Fall World 2009 will take place Sept. 13-16, 2009, in San Diego, Calif. For more information, see pages 71-77.
