On this snowy day (in most parts of Canada and the United States), it is helpful to look forward to spring and warmer less snowy days... In particular, lets take a closer look at DRJ Spring World taking place in Orlando, Florida from March 30-April 2.

As you likely know, networking is an integral part of business and there is no better place to do it than at DRJ Spring World. Our upcoming conference provides lots of opportunities for you to meet experts in disaster recovery and business continuity and to connect with those who can help you get ahead:

  • Exhibition Hall: discover new products, mingle with vendors and attend interactive product demonstrations.
  • Welcome Reception: this first event of DRJ Spring World held on Sunday evening is a fun and relaxed way to meet other conference attendees and to enjoy some drinks and snacks.
  • Monday Night Hospitality: gold sponsor XMatters is hosting this event on Monday evening. This is a great way to end the first full day of the conference and make lasting network contacts.
  • Networking Meals: all attendees are treated to six full meals during our conference at no extra cost. Our networking tables make it a great way to interact with peers in your field or related industries.

Along with networking, learning from your peers and industry experts is vital in staying up-to-date with latest trends, standards and approaches to disaster recovery and business continuity. We've got a full conference agenda for you that works for all experience levels and areas of interest.

The Sunday Workshops are interactive sessions that allow  you to explore topics at an in-depth level. These sessions are rated based on experience level. Here are a couple of Sunday afternoon sessions that we've got scheduled:

  • The Future of Business Resiliency Testing: this workshop is led by Troy Neville (Millersville University) and Ginnie Stouffer (Aforethought Consulting). The key component of the workshop is the live virtual reality simulation of two emergencies. The attendees will act as the Incident/Crisis Management team leader.
  • Build an ISO 22301 Management System to Capture Executive Attention: led by Rob Giffin (Avalution Consulting), the focus of this workshop in on an understanding of management system principles and processes, as well as the value of management system standards.

Be sure to download the DRJ Spring World agenda to learn more about our Sunday Workshops and to register for the show. (Did you know this is our 50th show?)

The morning General Sessions held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning are a great opportunity to learn a broad range of information from top industry experts. These sessions include topics such as:

  • It's Showtime.... And Life Isn't a Dress Rehearsal: Jon Petz is an author, speaker and corporate entertainer. In this morning session you'll see and experience the importance of every aspect of what you do. You'll leave the session with a  rekindled passion in who you are and what you do.
  • Skills and Insights for the BCP Manager: this session is led by Steve Goldman (Steve Goldman Associates) and is focused on what is required to start a new BCP program or how to move your BCP program forward.
  • Gut Check: Is What We're Doing Working?: David Nolan and John Jackson (both of Fusion Risk Management) will present a balanced and objective perspective on what's working, what may not be working, and where you need to focus your efforts and resources.

The afternoon Breakout Tracks are a chance to delve deeper into the topics, ideas, issues and trends in business continuity and disaster recovery. In this post, we'll take a look at some of the Monday afternoon Breakout Tracks:

  • Technical Session 1: What Works: Services and Service Supply Chain Risk Management: Jim Born (Cisco Services) will talk about Cisco Services' supplier BC processes highlighting assessment scoping, questions, risk dialogue, metrics and supporting supplier contracts language.
