Communication Lessons

Weekly-Column7-13Typically in this column we point our business continuity binoculars at a recent news event, taking a critical look at the news coverage, the decisions made (and not made) by those involved in the event, and offer up some thoughts/ suggestions/criticisms of the entire event.

More often than not, a common theme runs through each of these events/disasters/threats/occurrences - the need for a proven business continuity communications strategy:

  • A communication strategy that makes use of the technology and tools of 2015.
  • A communication strategy that uses targeted and actionable messaging and language.
  • A communication strategy that is “to the point”and results in action
  • A communication strategy that communicates a message that the recipients are expecting. (Because they’re familiar with the business continuity plan.)
  • A communication strategy that is open, honest and forthright.

Solid business continuity only works when the communication is effective and actionable.
