Participants at Dr. Heidi Hanna’s DRJ Fall 2018 session will learn something everyone needs at some point in their lives – how to cure stress.

“Attendees will learn the cure for our stress epidemic,” Hanna says, “and how stressing is actually a blessing when we know how to use it for good.”

Hanna, executive director of The American Institute of Stress, will discuss the impact of stress on the brain and body, along with an integrative neuroscience approach to proactively building resilience and reactively minimizing the negative impact of stress in the most challenging situations. Participants will learn several things during this strong research-based session:

  • discover the simple neuroscience model for how the brain words
  • recognize how non-conscious cues hijack attention and intention
  • understand simple techniques to shift stress reactions into responses
  • learn a practical tool to utilize stress as fuel for positive change
  • create a simple plan for implementing a consistent daily recharge practice

This interactive session includes case studies with research highlights and time for individuals to create their own personal recharge toolkit. In addition, organizational strategies will be discussed.

Hanna’s presentation integrates experiential learning, time for reflection, and the development of a personal action plan so participants leave the specific rituals they commit to practice for their own stress mastery.

“Stress is what happens when demand exceeds capacity,” Hanna explains. “It isn’t good or bad, but rather energy potential that can be used in positive or negative ways.” She says people need to transform the way they think about and discuss stress to empower others to use it for positive change.

“Learning to ride the waves of life and experience post-traumatic growth is important, so stressing is a blessing when we know how to use it for good.”

Attendees will have fun, experience personal insight, and leave “feeling empowered to change their relationship with stress, all of which will help them to transform their organization’s relationship with stress for good.”

In addition to her duties at American Institute of Stress, Hanna is also chief energy officer of SYNERGY and the New York Times best-selling author of The SHARP Solution and Stressaholic. She is the founding partner of The Academy for Brain Health and Performance, where she serves as the director of training and development.
