Monday, September 30, 2019
1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Dan Newton, PNC Financial Services

Speaker Spotlight

Dan Newton

Implementing a risk management program can be daunting. Add in regulatory concerns and compliance in the Financial Sector, diverse product and service lines with the Three Lines of Defense Model and you're upping your level of complexity. So how do we connect the dots and navigate these challenges in a thoughtful and meaningful way? How can we work cohesively and maintain a unified program that effectively manages the risks across the enterprise?

In this session, we'll walk through the risk framework and programs needed to operate effectively and consistently across the enterprise level setting on the Three Lines of Defense as a foundation. We'll identify more dots that will improve the connection points focusing on policies, issues management, Risk & Control Self-Assessments and reporting. Also, I'll discuss the risk governance and oversight functions in the Second Line of Defense that define ownership and accountability. All of these elements streamline the conversations for mitigating risks and challenging the various approaches. Finally, I'll walk you through the leadership committee structure that drives the risk narrative and initiatives at all levels and ensures all of the dots are connected and driving toward a mature risk management program.
