A one-stop information and resource center to help residents and businesses affected by the Waldo Canyon fire has opened on the west edge of downtown Colorado Springs.

The El Paso County Disaster Recovery Center is designed as a central location to answer questions and provide assistance on filing insurance claims, rebuilding homes, receiving grief counseling and the like. It will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily beginning Saturday, and will remain open as needed over the next several weeks, except for closing July 4, said county spokesman Dave Rose.
