Aquarium’s 20:20 vision has its head in the Cloudex

Aquarium Software of Hale in Cheshire has been shortlisted in the country’s top 20 independent cloud computing businesses, as released by advisory firm Clearwater Corporate Finance. The list, dubbed Cloudex 20:20, was compiled based on a variety of criteria, including innovation, the amount of income derived from the cloud, customer base, turnover and profit growth. The list includes a mix of companies, including Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) providers who the judges believe lead the cloud computing field.

Aquarium is one of only three of the finalists to make the cut from the north of England. Aquarium recognised the benefits that could be achieved through a true SaaS solution and developed its multi-tenanted web based solution from the ground up with SaaS at the forefront of its design.

Mark Colonnese, Director of Sales & Marketing for Aquarium Software, said: “There are some dynamic, innovative and capable businesses in the Cloudex 20:20 shortlist. So for Aquarium to be in there a little over seven years after our inception is both exciting and humbling. Whilst the primary focus of the business remains serving our UK and increasingly North American client base, to be recognised in this way by making the short-list is a fantastic endorsement of everything Aquarium is about and striving to achieve.”

The core 'Aquarium' product brings together into a single solution the core elements of CRM, business process automation and case management. The product is designed to manage any repeatable business process, especially those that are high volume in nature and administration-intensive. Using key milestones, Aquarium communicates with the stakeholders of the process, reducing risk, improving efficiencies and enhancing the customer journey. As such, Aquarium's key markets are insurance, legal, consumer financial claims, debt management and resolution. Aquarium’s price-point and transaction-based business makes it highly competitive against the more mainstream application providers.

Aquarium has also created two new businesses from the core Aquarium solution that make use of its underlying technology: Aquarium HR (Chorus-HR), a web-based HR solution that provides SMEs and larger companies access to a workflow based HR solution; and Aquarium Card Management Solutions (ACMS), which provides managed financial and pre-paid card solutions to both the public and private sectors in areas such as social and welfare care, housing associations, local authorities, credit unions and debt management.

Although the vast majority of revenue initially came from the UK, Aquarium now has clients in Europe and North America, and recently incorporated Aquarium Software Inc to service its current and future North American clients.

The overall winner of Cloudex 20:20 will be announced at an awards ceremony in the autumn. For more information on Cloudex 20:20, visit http://www.cloudpro.co.uk/cloud-essentials/5829/uks-top-cloud-businesses-named-clearwater
