DRJ Spring 2019 | Sunday, March 24, 2019 | Solution Track 9 | 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

For DRJ Spring 2019 attendees who want to focus on their individual professional growth needs instead of only talking about business continuity topics, then they need to attend Alice Kaltenmark and Heather Merchan’s presentation.

This session, titled “The Business Continuity Institute: Tell Me More…,” will be interactive with initial information to lead the group in a lively question-and-answer session.

Kaltenmark and Merchan will discuss how attendees can take advantage of the complimentary Business Continuity Institute affiliate membership at DRJ Spring 2019. They will provide an overview of the BCI, certification, membership grades, professional development opportunities, member value, and personal benefits gained from being active U.S. chapter volunteers. The duo will also provide attendees with an understanding of the BCI, what it can offer its members, and the steps required to progress opportunities of interest. They intend to share what BCI offers that can help attendees achieve their individual and team’s career and training goals.

“The BCI is one of the ‘best kept secrets’ within the industry whose success and expertise is driven by its wealth of knowledge within the membership,” say Kaltenmark and Merchan.

Both say the success of this session will be directly impacted by the level of attendee participation. The attendees will gain the most out of this session when they engage in the discussion. “Both of us love working with others to help them grow and learn.”

Merchan, BCI president of the U.S. chapter, and Kaltenmark, chapter vice president, have a combined 30 years of experience in business continuity and resiliency.

The pair have previously presented at DRJ conferences. In addition, they present at local and national conferences in their respective regions. They speak with confidence and conviction and have engaging speaking styles that encourage attendees’ participation.

Kaltenmark is service continuity manager for RELX Technology Services and is vice president of the U.S. chapter of BCI. She has more than 20 years of experience in business continuity and resiliency.

Merchan, business continuity and crisis management lead for the global security office of Deloitte, is also president of the U.S. chapter of the BCI. She has almost 15 years of experience in business resiliency and business continuity.
